April is Donor Awareness Month!
Below is
a schedule of events at Allegheny General Hospital and the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) to celebrate
the gift of life.

General Transplant Services and the Gerald McGinnis
Cardiovascular Institute will also be hosting donation
tables every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the
month of April from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, with the exception
on April 11th andApril 26th. These tables will be located
outside the cafeteria on the 2nd floor of the hospital and
will provide employees and visitors with information about
organ donation and how to become an organ donor.
- April
11, 2012: 12:30 PM: Transplant recipients,
together with representatives from AGH’s transplant program
and the Center for Organ Recovery and Education will host a
program in the Snyder Auditorium focusing on organ donation
and how it affects lives. No RSVP is required to attend.
- April
30, 2012: 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon:
A
transplant recipient parade will also take place at AGH on
April 30, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Transplant recipients
will travelthroughout the hospital visiting units and
patient floors to celebrate the Gift of Life and thank the
many dedicated healthcare professionals who make
transplantation possible.
- April
30, 2012: 1:00 PM: Allegheny General Hospital
will hold its 3rd annual Rose Bush Dedication Ceremony to
honor those who have graciously saved others through the
gift of organ donation. AGH transplant recipients will
dedicate a rose bush that will be planted in the hospital’s
donor rose garden. The ceremony is open to everyone and will
take place in the Magovern Auditorium and include
refreshments.

Flavors of Westmoreland

The ALF Flavors of Westmoreland
will bring premiere chefs from the area together
to each prepare their unique, signature cuisine
for a table of ten guests. Each chef will design
their own menu and prepare a five‐course dinner,
as well as hors d‐oeuvres for the cocktail
reception. Also, an exciting live and silent
auction will take place throughout the evening.

TRIO-Pittsburgh Chapter has its monthly meetings to discuss
chapter issues as well as support meeting so that you may
discuss your transplant concerns and issues. Guest speakers will
be announced accordingly. Meetings will be the 3rd Sunday of
every month.
